Federal Kidnapping Act - Following the historic Lindbergh kidnapping (the abduction and murder of Charles Lindbergh's toddler son), the United States Congress adopted a federal kidnapping statute—popularly known as the Federal Kidnapping Act 18 USC § 1201(a)(1) (also known as The Lindbergh Law) — which was intended to let federal authorities step in and pursue kidnappers once they had crossed a state border with their victim.
Civil law (common law) - In the common law, civil law refers to the area of law governing relations between private individuals. It also is used to describe all law outside of the criminal law context.
Law of obligations - The Law of Obligations is one of the component elements of the civil law system of law and encompasses contractual obligations, quasi-contractual obligations such as unjust enrichment and extra-contractual obligations.
