The Merry Widow - The Merry Widow (German: Die lustige Witwe) is a romantic musical comedy or operetta by the Austro-Hungarian composer, Franz Lehár. The librettists, Viktor Léon and Leo Stein, based the story - concerning a rich widow, Hanna Glawari, and her attempt to find a husband - on an 1861 comedy play, L'Attache d'ambassade (The Ambassador's Attache) by Henri Meilhac.
Merry widow - A merry widow is a short, strapless corset with half-cups for the breasts and long garters. It was first made by the lingerie company Maidenform in 1952, to coincide with the 1952 film, The Merry Widow, starring Lana Turner.
